Caribbean Optometrists Association

The mission of the CARIOA shall be to facilitate the enhancement and

development of eye and vision care in the Caribbean.   It shall be the regional organization for the professionals working in the field of optometry, their associations and institutions.

Optometry is a healthcare profession that is autonomous, educated, and regulated (licensed/registered), and optometrists are the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, detection/diagnosis and management of disease in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system.

The mission of the CARIOA shall be to facilitate the enhancement and development of eye and vision care in the region. The objects of the CARIOA shall be:

 

2.1       To   plan   strategically to   achieve the   enhancement and development of  primary eye and vision care by optometrists in the region.

 

 

2.2    To promote high standards of education and practice by optometrists in the region through seminars and continuing education programs.

 

 

2.3         To unite and co-ordinate optometry in the region.

 

 

2.4      To generally support aid programmes directed at the provision of eye and vision care to societies in need.

 

 

2.5  To co-operate with any other organization concerned with the promotion and development of primary eye and vision care or the prevention of blindness.

 

 

2.6  To promote the advancement of the science of optometry for the benefit of mankind,
